Highly effective active filter carbon - especially after medication treatment

EHEIM AKTIV is acid-washed and activated for automatic water absorption (active surface 1200 m²/g). This activated carbon therefore binds chemical pollutants such as pesticides, medication residues and other substances very quickly and stores them in large quantities. The water in the aquarium becomes crystal clear. It is particularly important to use it after treating the aquarium inhabitants with medication.

EHEIM AKTIV should only be used for a limited period of time (approx. 4 weeks) and then removed or replaced.

In the layered structure of the filter, EHEIM AKTIV is used directly after the mechanical filter mass (e.g. EHEIM MECH or MECHpro) and the biological (e.g. SUBSTRATpro) in the net bag provided.

Adsorptive filter media

Adsorbing means to accumulate (as opposed to absorbing). Adsorptive filter media are materials that remove harmful substances from the water and accumulate or bind them. This includes chlorine from tap water, residues of medication or traces of cleaning agents, pesticides, dyes, etc.

Tip:

Only use adsorptive filter media for a few weeks. Since the harmful substances only stick, they can dissolve again after a while and be transported back into the water. At the very least, regular replacement is necessary. Adsorptive filtering is usually only necessary during the running-in phase of the aquarium or after the use of medication.
