Sera Magnesium-Test (Mg)-3x15ml[Volume - 45ml]
4001942047142
It is used to determine the concentration of magnesium (magnesium) in a marine aquarium
Attention! Reagent 1 contains sodium hydroxide. Causes severe burns. Keep Regent locked up and out of reach of children. Wear protective gloves when working. If it gets into the eyes, wash them immediately with water, consult a doctor. In case of any nausea, seek medical help and take this manual with you
An optimal concentration of magnesium is needed for marine invertebrates and algae. A perfect example is red calcareous algae. These consume large amounts of magnesium to build their skeleton. Natural seawater contains approximately 1300 mg/l. If we want to achieve optimal conditions in the marine aquarium, this concentration must be observed. You can conveniently and quickly determine the concentration of magnesium in a marine aquarium using the Sera magnesium test. The concentration of magnesium can be conveniently increased in the marine aquarium with sera magnesium plus.
The magnesium level can be increased with sera marin COMPONENT 6 magnesium. Reagent consumption depends on the calcium level of the checked water.
US Information for use An optimal magnesium level is required in a marine water aquarium in order for invertebrates and ornamental algae to thrive. Calcareous red algae are a perfect example. These ornamental algae require particularly much magnesium, as they integrate this element into their skeleton. Natural marine water contains about 1,300 mg/l. This level should also be maintained in an optimal marine water aquarium. The sera magnesium-Test allows you to monitor the magnesium level in your aquarium quickly and easily. It is even easier if you have gathered testing experience by using the sera calcium-Test. You can easily increase the magnesium level in your marine water aquarium by adding sera marin COMPONENT 6 magnesium. Directions for use: Shake reagent bottles well before using! Do not allow tested water to contact aquarium or pond water!
1. Rinse the measurement vial several times with the water to be tested, then empty the vial. Dry the vial on the outside.
2. Rinse the syringe several times with the water to be tested, then fill 2 ml of it into the vial, using the syringe.
3. Add 6 drops reagent 1 and shake the vial until the liquid is evenly distributed. Possibly occurring cloudiness does not affect the test.
4. Add one level measurement spoon (included with the kit) reagent 2 into the vial and gently whirl the vial (do not shake) until the powder has dissolved.
5. Add reagent 3 drop by drop while counting the drops, release the reagent bottle from finger pressure after every 5 drops, allowing air to be drawn into the bottle. Shake vial after every drop until the color turns from pink into blue (not violet) and remains stable for at least 30 seconds whilst whirling the vial occasionally. Write down the number of drops used.
6. Empty the measurement vial, rinse it carefully with tap water and then several times with the water to be tested, then empty the vial. Dry the vial on the outside.
7. Take up 2 ml of the water to be tested into the syringe and fill it into the vial.
8. Add 6 drops reagent 4 and shake the vial until the liquid is evenly distributed. Possibly occurring cloudiness does not affect the test.
9. Add one level measurement spoon (included with the kit) reagent 5 into the vial and gently whirl the vial (do not shake) until the powder has dissolved.
10. Add reagent 3 drop by drop while counting the drops, release the reagent bottle from finger pressure after every 5 drops, allowing air to be drawn into the bottle. Shake vial after every drop until the color turns from red into green and remains stable for at least 30 seconds whilst whirling the vial occasionally. Attention – you will need considerably more drops for this measurement than for the first measurement!
11. Subtract the number of drops required for the first measurement from the result of the second measurement. Multiply the remaining number of drops by 60 to get the magnesium level in mg/l. Example: The first measurement required 4 drops, the second measurement 24 drops. If you subtract the first measurement result from the second one, 20 drops will remain. 20 drops multiplied by 60 makes 1,200 mg/l magnesium.
12. Cleaning: Clean vial and syringe thoroughly with tap water before and after each test. Close reagent bottles immediately after use and do not exchange caps. Store at room temperature and away from light. For testing ornamental fish aquariums and pond water only.
