LEDs installed in the LEDDY SLIM SUNNY DAY & NIGHT lamp emit light with a color temperature of 7000 K. This ensures faithful reproduction of colors of all inhabitants of the aquarium and guarantees good conditions for aquarium plants.

The LEDDY SLIM SUNNY DAY&NIGHT LED lamp is equipped with the Day & Night function. It works in three operating modes: DAY / DAYBREAK / NIGHT. DAY is the basic and most powerful light to illuminate the aquarium during the day. DAYBREAK is a reduced daylight power of up to 50% plus blue light. It works well as the first mode after the night and when feeding fish – especially if you have a skittish stock. NIGHT is a blue glow that allows you to uniquely observe the aquarium after dark, including fish and nocturnal animals. Day & Night lighting will beautifully expose the arrangement in the aquarium both during the day and at night, and will also make the interior of the room in which the tank is located more cozy. Changing the DAY / DAYBREAK / NIGHT operating mode occurs after switching the module off and on with the switch in no more than 5 seconds. Switching directly to DAY mode takes place after turning off the module for more than 5 seconds and turning it back on. It is best to automate this process using a modern aquarium controller SOCKET DUO.

Open aquariums and their lighting

And the open quarium is a great option for people looking for modern and designer solutions in aquarists.  It is preferred especially by enthusiasts of styles such as Dutch, Japanese or biotope aquaristics.  Thanks to its natural appearance, an open aquarium can become an attractive element of interior design and attract the attention of guests.  It also ensures better air humidity in the room, which is especially beneficial for people suffering from respiratory diseases.

Open aquariums are tanks without a lighting cover. In their case, lighting mounted on beams or pendant lamps is used. Lamps for mounting on the side edges or on the back wall of the tank are also often used. The latter are dedicated to tanks with a smaller capacity, the “nano” type.

Why do we illuminate the aquarium?

There are usually two reasons. First of all, the tank is nice, that is, it looks natural. The light is to make the fish and plants have beautiful, appropriate colors for a given species, and the whole will be an unquestionable decoration of the room. The second goal is equally important – the vast majority of aquarists want to have healthy, well-growing plants in the aquarium. And plants need light to grow for 10-12 hours a day, which is the “drive” of photosynthesis – a natural process as a result of which they transform inorganic compounds into organic substances necessary for their life. Thus, properly selected light is to guarantee at the same time that the aquarium will look nice and the plants will grow well in it.

How much light in the aquarium?

How much light does the aquarium require? It depends on what species of plants we are going to grow in it. In terms of light requirements, they can be divided into three groups:

Group I – shade-bearing species, e.g. “pelia”, mosses, winged microzorium, screw diver, some compact (e.g. aponogetonolist, Wendt’s compact, Backett’s warbler, Malayan warbler), anubias.

Group II – moderately photophilous species, e.g. spherical twig, water tintland, rhododendrons, tiger lotus, ludwigie, broad-leaved vodka, three-flowered vodka, monkfish, broad-leaved arrowhead, Argentine marsh, giant diver, compact, limnophils, small-leaved bacopa, Thai krina, ponikło, Japanese gloss, swordfish.

Group III – definitely photophilous species, e.g. cabombs, “glossostigma”, hemiantus.

Usually, the conversion of lighting power per liter of aquarium is used. It is conventionally assumed that in the case of LED lamps for growing shade plants, min. 0.15-0.2 W for each liter of water. Moderately demanding plants need 0.25-0.4 W / 0,26 US g, and those definitely photophilous even 0.5-0.7 W /0,26 US gal.

The “day” in the aquarium can fall on virtually any part of the day. If the tank stands far from the windows and is illuminated only by artificial light, the hours of switching on and off the lighting can be practically any. It is best to simply adapt them to our preferences and the hours when we are usually present in the apartment (e.g. “dawn” at 3 p.m. and “dusk” at 1:00 a.m.). We can then enjoy the beauty of our own “piece of the underwater world” at will.

The LEDDY SLIM DUO dual lamps are the first such lamps in the market.

Designed especially for freshwater aquariums, the lamp contains two rows of LEDs with a total power of 16 W (2×8 W). Half of them are SUNNY diodes, emitting light that is similar to natural sunlight, and the other half are PLANT diodes, designed for plants.
